About Brett H. Hurliman, MD

Dr. Brett Hurliman is a Physician in the Department of Pediatric & Adolescent Medicine at Phoenix Children's Hospital and is board certified with the American Academy of Pediatrics.

He grew up on a swine farm in Cissna Park, Illinois before graduating from Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, IL with a BS in Biological Sciences in 2005. Dr. Hurliman earned his Doctor of Medicine at the University of Illinois College of Medicine - Rockford in 2009, where he was also a member of the Rural Medical Education Program. He completed both his internship and residency at Phoenix Children's Hospital/Maricopa Medical Center. Following completion of his training in 2012, he served as Chief Resident for the program before joining the ambulatory pediatrics division as part of the teaching faculty. He is a Clinical Instructor for the Creighton University School of Medicine and a Clinical Assistant Professor for the University of Arizona College of Medicine - Phoenix. He has also served as the Director of the Community Pediatrics Resident Longitudinal Experience for the residency program.

His interests in medicine include: caring for children with complex medical conditions, newborn infant care, and medical education of students and residents. He was recognized by the residency program in 2014 with the J. Kipp Charlton Humanitarian Award" and in 2016 with the Grace L. Caputo Faculty Mentor Award".

In his spare time, Dr. Hurliman enjoys cheering for the Green Bay Packers, reading mystery novels, running, and spending time outdoors.
