What led you to your career as a neurology doctor?
I always wanted to be a physician! While in medical school my mother suffered from a neurologic disorder. I accompanied her to all her neurologic evaluations. I was impressed as to how neurologists think and analyze the questions they are faced with!
What is the best thing about your job?
I love it when I am able to make a difference in a family's life. I also love seeing my kids (patients) grow right before my eyes.
Have you received a special gift of thanks or piece of artwork from a child?
Many! from drawings to sand art!
What is your favorite children's book?
Little Bunny Fo Fo. I read it to my kids so many times.
How do you go about calming a child's fears, aside from the wonderful work of the Child Life team?
I try to talk to them at their level, play with them and examine them through play
How do you build trust with a parent?
I think listening to the parents' concerns and providing them with easy access to be in touch with them is very important
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
I love to travel. I love to spend time with my family, play Uno and we all love movies!
What is your favorite local restaurant?
We all love good burgers wherever they are.
Can you tell us about your family?
I have two daughters, Amar (8) and Yasmine (6) and my husband Bashar. The rest of our families live in Jordan. We always miss them but visit them yearly.
Where are you originally from, and how did you get here?
I am from Amman- Jordan. I came to Phoenix via Minnesota. I moved here because of the great potential that Phoenix Children's Hospital has, I wanted to be part of it! and because I had close friends in town.
