COVID-19 Advisory: Help slow down the spread of the virus. If you have symptoms, call before going to a clinic or emergency department. We are restricting visitation to one primary caregiver per patient at all Phoenix Children’s locations. No visitors. For the latest updates on COVID-19 visit the Maricopa County Department of Public Health or the CDC.

Why Us?

Survivor Program

Once a year, a patient and their family meets with our team, which includes:

  • Oncology registered nurse
  • Oncologist or oncology nurse practitioner
  • Pediatric endocrinologist
  • Registered dietician
  • Social worker

During that visit, we’ll provide a full screening and recommendations based on survivorship guidelines tailored to each patient’s individual needs. These recommendations are designed to help manage side effects from a patient’s treatment, whether those side effects are short term or longer lasting issues.

Our comprehensive Survivor Program addresses the needs of:

  • Patients who are at least two years from the end of their cancer treatment.
  • Patients who have been treated for any type of cancer or disease process that utilizes chemotherapy.
  • Patients who have received their treatment at Phoenix Children's.
  • Patients who have received their treatment elsewhere.

We meet with patients every year until they are 10 years from the completion of their therapy or at 18 years of age, whichever happens last. It’s important to us to celebrate survivorship and educate patients on how to follow up with their care as they transition into adulthood.

Helping adults heal

We offer one-time consultations for adults who have been treated for pediatric cancers, but have never had the benefit of survivorship care.

Working together

Our team makes sure to give each patient’s primary care provider a comprehensive, detailed written review of our consultation so that we can collaborate on the medical management of survivors. Patients also receive a copy of the consultation with a summary of our recommendations in easy-to-read language.
